Toyota Vitz 1000cc Fuel Consumption per KM

There seems to be a lot of debate about what the fuel consumption of a Toyota Vitz with a 1000 cc engine is–that might be because there are several models of the Vitz with this size engine.

I have seen figures ranging from 8.9 km/L to 21.5 km/L depending on the state of the car, what fuel is used, and how the car is driven.

Whatever the case, the consensus seems to be that the 1300 cc engine in a Vitz offers better fuel economy.

Toyota Vitz 0.9 Fuel Consumption/Toyota Vitz 990cc Fuel Consumption/Vitz CC 990 Fuel Consumption

The Toyota Vitz, known in some markets as the Yaris, is a popular subcompact car that has been produced by Toyota since 1999. The 990cc (1.0-liter) engine variant is designed for efficiency and city driving. Here are some details about its fuel consumption:

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel consumption of the Toyota Vitz 990cc can vary based on driving conditions, driving habits, and the specific model year, but generally, it is known for being quite fuel-efficient. Here are typical fuel consumption figures:

  • City Driving: Approximately 14-18 km/l (33-42 mpg US)
  • Highway Driving: Approximately 18-22 km/l (42-52 mpg US)

Factors Influencing Fuel Consumption

Several factors can affect the actual fuel consumption you experience:

  • Driving Style: Aggressive driving with rapid acceleration and heavy braking can reduce fuel efficiency.
  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes, air filter replacements, and tire pressure checks, can help maintain optimal fuel efficiency.
  • Load: Carrying heavy loads or frequently driving with many passengers can increase fuel consumption.
  • Traffic Conditions: Stop-and-go traffic and idling can lead to higher fuel consumption compared to steady, moderate-speed driving.

Comparisons with Other Engines

The 990cc engine in the Vitz is generally more fuel-efficient than larger engine options available in the Vitz/Yaris lineup. Larger engines (e.g., 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter) offer more power but typically consume more fuel.

Real-World Usage

In real-world usage, drivers often report that they can achieve the manufacturer’s fuel consumption figures if they drive conservatively and maintain their vehicle properly. Hybrid models of the Vitz/Yaris, where available, offer even better fuel efficiency due to the combination of a gasoline engine and electric motor.

Conclusion

The Toyota Vitz 990cc is a highly fuel-efficient vehicle, making it a great choice for city driving and commuting. Its fuel consumption is competitive within its class, and it benefits from Toyota’s reputation for reliability and low maintenance costs.

    1. Hi Waqar747,

      Welcome to ChickAboutTown!

Thanks for your review too! It was quite useful while I was doing my research for this post.

  1. I do not like small cars dear, I tell you if I was ever to get on the road it would be by a Toyota Vitz driver who saw me staring at a beautiful Rangerover!

I have tagged you on my honesty scrap award post, would like to know much more than your review of products! 🙂 🙂

    1. Hi Mama,

      Karibu kama kawaida.

When it comes to size of cars, I am soooo the opposite of you. No matter what people tell me about how we need 4X4s on these East African roads, I prefer cars that feel like the extensions of my body when I am driving. I find that larger cars are not as easy to maneuver through traffic no matter what great new technology their made with. Also, I find that with these larger cars, one always has to be super-careful about where exactly the edges of their car is to be sure not to bang anything…but it seems I’m the only one who has this opinion. 🙂

Yep, Ranges are beautiful – especially more recent models. The big car that makes me turn my eye every time, though, is the BMW X5. All I will say is: may we one day have the blessing of owning these beautiful cars in person. 🙂

I checked out your honesty scrap award post, and I did see that I was tagged. Thanks for the curiosity. Now, let me figure out what juicy morsels of my life I should share with you.

As always, thanks for your feedback.

      1. Hi
Nice site…well i’m a 27yrs guy…thinking abt buying a vitz(clavia)..oops forgot its maroon in colour(they have classified it as “wine red”)would that fall into a “Chick car” category??

        1. Hi Lusekelo,

          Welcome to ChickAboutTown!

Did you ever buy the Vitz or would my opinion still be useful now? 🙂

(Sorry for taking so long to get back to you!)

          Biche

          1. yep already bought it…its cool..does that mean i’m too in touch with my feminine side?lol…

          2. I bought a newly imported VITZ with 1500cc, red in color, body kit (front and side skirts) I was amazed at how spacious it was inside. I am 6ft2 tall and fit easily. The price was steep. It was not my first choice but my girl would not have any other car but the VITZ. I tried to get her to pick a corolla, camry or sunny, but she said that those cars remind her of Taxi cabs (too common. Since I was buying for her, I gladly paid. She has never driven a car, so I had to drive it while she learned to drive. I drove the car to Kisumu from Nairobi and still had more than half a tank full. Despite the car having a bigger engine (1500cc)It takes only kshs 3000 to fill the tank. The car has a lot of power to climb the hilly roads, thanks to the new technology, VVTI engine. Please note that this car comes in three different engine capacities, the 1000cc,1300cc and 1500cc and the engine size dictates the price. I love the car. It is amazing. I have never liked smaller cars but this one is cool.

          3. Hi Timmy,

            Welcome to ChickAboutTown!

Thanks for sharing your first hand experience with your (your girl’s?) Vitz! I was particularly interested to hear how it fared long distance.

            Biche

  2. Enjoyed reading your blog. Just bought a Vitz-MY FIRST CAR!!! and absolutely loving it. I concur on it being spacious on the inside(I’m tall) and compact on the outside and the fuel consumption definite plus!
    Cheers,
    MK

    1. Hi Kelycxcus,

Welcome to Chick About Town! Unfortunately, I have no idea what the actual fuel consumption for that particular model of Vitz is. Perhaps, another reader might see your question and be able to answer it though.

      Good luck with that!
