Nice & Lovely became a household name in Kenya well before it had the power of L’Oréal behind it.
At the time of the L’Oréal/Interconsumer Products Ltd. buyout, Nice & Lovely was already a leader in the Kenyan hair care market controlling about 18% of the industry.
Interconsumer Products Limited had also already expanded into other countries in the region, namely Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

Interconsumer Products Limited was the brainchild of Paul Kinuthia, who started the company in Kariobangi, a Nairobi low-income residential estate.
