Whats the Difference Between Bacardi Gold and Bacardi Anejo Cuatro
The main difference is ageing and flavour.
Both are golden/amber rums, but BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro is a more deliberately aged, oak-influenced rum.

BACARDÍ Gold is made from a blend of rums and is crafted for a mellow, versatile profile.
It has dry vanilla, ginger root and toasted almond notes with a slightly sweet, lightly oaky finish.
Añejo Cuatro, on the other hand, is explicitly aged for at least four years in oak.
Its profile is more developed, with vanilla and cinnamon on the nose, dark honey and clove on the palate, and toffee and oak in the finish.
So, What Would You Notice When Drinking Them?
BACARDÍ Gold
Think lighter, drier, nuttier and more mixer-friendly.
Cola, ginger ale/beer and other strong mixers work well because the rum doesn’t need to dominate the drink. BACARDÍ specifically associates Gold with the Cuba Libre.
Añejo Cuatro
Think rounder, warmer, more oak-aged and slightly sweeter-tasting, with more obvious spice and honey character. It’s still very suitable for mixing, but I’d be more inclined to drink it with ice, soda, ginger ale or a relatively simple mixer so you can actually taste the aged rum. BACARDÍ’s own Cuatro drinks include the Cuatro Mismo with soda and lime and the Cuatro Highball with ginger ale.
If you’re choosing between the two for drinking rather than cocktails, I’d pick Añejo Cuatro. It has considerably more going on because of the four years of ageing.
And one important distinction: Añejo Cuatro isn’t a completely different type of rum from Gold. It is itself a gold rum. “Gold” describes the general style/category, while “Añejo Cuatro” is a particular BACARDÍ expression with a minimum four-year age statement.
