Alors on Danse Meaning

Would you like to know what alors on danse means?

If so, click here. But to share a bit more…

Alors on Danse” is a French phrase that translates to “So We Dance” in English. It became globally recognized as the title of a hit song by Belgian artist Stromae, released in 2009. The song quickly gained international acclaim, topping charts in multiple countries and becoming a defining anthem of the late 2000s.

The phrase “Alors on Danse” encapsulates a sense of resignation and escapism. The song’s lyrics delve into the mundane and often overwhelming struggles of everyday life, such as the pressures of work, financial burdens, family problems, and the general monotony that many people experience. Stromae paints a picture of a world where people are constantly running on a treadmill of responsibilities and challenges, with little time to pause and reflect.

Despite this bleak portrayal of life’s difficulties, the chorus of the song—repeating “Alors on Danse”—serves as both a statement of fact and a form of release. It suggests that, in the face of life’s endless problems, people turn to dancing as a way to cope, escape, and momentarily forget their worries. The repetitive nature of the chorus mirrors the cyclical nature of life’s challenges, yet also emphasizes the cathartic power of dance and music.

What Is Alors On Danse About?

Essentially, this song is an existential song about the difficulties and complexities of life. The essence of the alors on danse meaning, is that ‘and so we dance to forget our problems’.

Q7. What Does la Cadette Mean in English?

La cadette is a birth order term. By definition, la cadette, isgirl–because cadette is femininethat comes after an older sibling.

La cadette is therefore, the younger sister. This younger sister could be a middle child or the last born, but definitely not a first born.

La cadette can also be used in a figurative sense between two people who are not related to mean a woman who is younger than the other person.

And now to my original post:

I first heard of Coller La Petite in a Whatsapp message from a childhood friend.

I checked it out, and it’s been a love story ever since!

Immediately, I had questions about parts of the song, though, and headed online to look for its lyrics.

Although I could find them online, I couldn’t find a translation for some of the more difficult to understand words for non-Camfranglais speakers.

For instance, what is a ndjoka or what does Franko use sanga la petite meaning? (Having grown up in the Ivory Coast, I already knew what la petite meant, but those of you who speak more standard French might be wondering: what does Franko use la petite meaning?)

I eventually got the answers I was looking for but had to search far and wide for them.

I wrote this post so that you wouldn’t have to go through the same trouble I did.

One of the things that I like most about this song is its lyrics.

In Camfranglais, Cameroonian colloquial speak, Coller La Petite tells the story of many, many nights of partying like I have known them over the years.

For those English speakers out there who may be wondering what Coller la Petite is all about, this post is for you.
