Best Internet Provider in Tanzania/WiFi in Tanzania
The best internet provider in Tanzania may depend on a variety of factors, such as location, budget, and the type of internet service you’re looking for.
That being said, here are some of the top internet service providers in Tanzania:
- Vodacom Tanzania: Vodacom Tanzania is a subsidiary of Vodacom Group, a South African telecommunications company. It provides 4G LTE and 3G internet services, as well as fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services in select areas. Vodacom Tanzania has a wide coverage area and offers competitive pricing. (This is what I use for mobile internet across the country but not for home internet.)
- TTCL: Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) is a state-owned telecommunications company that provides fixed-line, mobile, and internet services. TTCL’s internet services include ADSL, fiber-to-the-home, and 4G LTE. TTCL has a large network coverage area and offers affordable pricing.
- Smile Communications: Smile Communications is a 4G LTE internet service provider that offers fast and reliable internet services in Tanzania. Smile Communications’ network coverage area is limited to major cities such as Dar es Salaam and Arusha.
- Zantel: Zantel is a telecommunications company that provides mobile, fixed-line, and internet services in Tanzania. Zantel’s internet services include 4G LTE and fiber-to-the-home. Zantel has a wide coverage area and offers competitive pricing.
- Tigo Tanzania: Tigo Tanzania is a subsidiary of Millicom International Cellular, a telecommunications company based in Luxembourg. Tigo Tanzania provides 5G and 4G LTE internet services, as well as fiber-to-the-home services in select areas. Tigo Tanzania has a wide network coverage area and offers affordable pricing.
- Zuku: Zuku is a popular home internet service provider in Tanzania, and this is what I use for home internet myself in Dar es Salaam. They offer reliable and affordable broadband internet services primarily through fiber-optic and cable technologies. With a range of internet plans, including unlimited data usage, Zuku ensures users can enjoy high-speed browsing, streaming, and downloading. Their customer support aims to provide assistance for any technical issues or inquiries. Zuku may also offer additional services like digital TV packages and voice services. Check their website or contact Zuku directly for availability in your area.
Best Internet in Zanzibar
If you need to secure your own internet in Zanzibar, and you want to get the best internet in Zanzibar, then the two providers from which to secure it are Zantel, which has the widest coverage in Zanzibar, and Halotel.
Zantel and Halotel are both Tanzanian mobile operators, so to get this best internet in Zanzibar, you would have to purchase a SIM card from them which you can either use in your mobile phone or in a mobile device specifically for internet access, i.e., a dongle or MiFi router.

Thank you, Biche, for this list. My husband and I decided to stay at Mizingani Seafront Hotel and we greatly enjoyed the views from the dining room terrace. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the service was very personable.
The hotel was also very well placed relative to the ferry, Stone Town, and Forodhani Gardens, all of which were in walking distance of about 5 to 15 minutes.
Once more thanks for the recommendation!
My pleasure, Mrs. Rwega. Thanks for the feedback! 😉
