Rohobot Ethiopian Restaurant Reviews

Tucked away in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam, Rohobot Ethiopian Restaurant is a hidden gem for those seeking authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a warm, down-to-earth, inviting atmosphere, enhanced by traditional Ethiopian décor (some of it localized) and the aromatic scent of spices wafting through the air.

The menu features an array of classic Ethiopian dishes, with the star being the injera, a soft and tangy flatbread that serves as both a plate and a utensil. It pairs perfectly with a variety of flavorful stews and sautés. The doro wat (spicy chicken stew) and kitfo (minced raw beef seasoned with spices) are popular choices, but the restaurant also shines with its vegetarian options. The shiro wat, a thick chickpea stew, and the atkilt wot, a medley of spiced vegetables, are must-tries for plant-based diners.

Service at Rohobot is friendly and attentive, with staff happy to guide you through the menu if you’re new to Ethiopian cuisine. They often encourage sharing, as most dishes are served family-style, making it a great spot for groups.

One unique feature of Rohobot is their traditional coffee ceremony, where you can experience the rich, bold flavors of freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee in an authentic setting.

It’s a delightful way to end a meal and offers a glimpse into Ethiopia’s deep-rooted coffee culture.

Overall, Rohobot Ethiopian Restaurant provides a delightful dining experience that transports you to the heart of Ethiopia at pocket-friendly prices. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of the cuisine or a first-timer, it’s a place worth visiting for its delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and cultural authenticity.

Ethiopian Restaurant Dar es Salaam

There are two main Ethiopian restaurants to speak of in Dar es Salaam. The more popular one that has a more upscale ambiance is Addis in Dar in Regent Estate, but my favourite for the reliable authenticity of its cuisine is Rohobot Restaurant in Msasani/Oysterbay.

Addis in Dar is located at 35 Ursino Street in Regent Estate. Rohobot Ethiopian Restaurant is located behind Namanga in Oysterbay.

You can get precise locations for both these restaurants on Google Maps.

Unfortunately, that’s the only email address I have for Dass Restaurant. Thanks for letting me know that it’s inactive. If you ever do find a correct one, would you be so kind as to come back here and let me know? I’d really appreciate it.

    1. Hi Samuel,

Welcome to ChickAboutTown! Sorry, it’s taken me so long to respond to your question. Essentially, Spoken Word is poetry performed aloud but that’s just scratching the surface. Check out this link for further information: What is Spoken Word?. I hope you find the article informative and get the opportunity to watch Spoken Word for yourself in person. It can be very interesting!

      Cheers,
