Emerson on Hurumzi Hotel Stone Town is a historic boutique hotel in Stone Town, Zanzibar, housed in a building dating back to the 1870s.

Originally constructed for Sir Tharia Topan, a prominent Zanzibari merchant, the building has also served as the residence of the Archbishop of Zanzibar before being restored as a hotel.

It features 16 uniquely designed rooms furnished with authentic Zanzibari antiques, many with balconies or verandahs offering views of the city and the Indian Ocean.

A key highlight is the rooftop Tea House Restaurant, one of the tallest dining spots in Stone Town, known for its set seafood-based menu and sunset views.

Reservations are recommended due to its popularity.

The hotel’s central location provides easy access to Stone Town’s markets, historic sites, and cultural attractions.

Guests appreciate its ambiance, attentive staff, and the authentic experience it offers of Zanzibar’s history and culture.
